Coaching Sportsmanship |
June 10, 2008 |
On the last Saturday of the spring season, under a blazing sun at 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon, Shrewsbury Coach Chris Szal and his U10 Girls were scheduled to play Millbury. Despite on being able to field a team of 6 players, Millbury played a tough match. At the end of the game, Coach Chris and his U10 Girls gave Millbury a round of applause and thanked them for their courage above and beyond the standard cheer from the team huddle. Both teams played hard on the field; off the field, they all showed true sportsmanship, making them all winners. A few days after the game was played, the coaches exchanged emails, as shown below, and demonstrate the high standard of conduct for which all youth coaches should strive and the results on and off the field. Kudos to our Coach Chris! |
