Players, Coaches and Parents,

Please carefully read the contents of this notification.  It includes several announcements for the Fall 2020 Season and a number of options for those player currently registered for the Fall 2020 Season.

• Shrewsbury Youth Soccer will NOT be offering a Travel Soccer Program for the Fall 2020 Season. 

• We will also NOT be offering a program for the Grade 2 and younger players.

• We will be exploring an In Town Only Team Play and Skills program for Grades 3 through Grade 8.

The Shrewsbury Board Members have met many time over the past 8 weeks and have arrived at these decisions after careful review and discussion of the Massachusetts and Shrewsbury Town Regulations and Guidance and the guidance and information provided by the Massachusetts Youth Soccer and Midland Area Soccer organizations. 

These decisions were informed by the complexities if implementing the “Return to Play” guidance as provided by Massachusetts Youth Soccer and the many uncertainties presented with efforts to “stop the spread” of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Next Steps

The scale and scope of a travel program makes it necessary that we made the above determinations now.  However, we do have some opportunity to consider an In Town program for Grade 3 through Grade 8.  We will be continuing our discussions, and reviewing data and guidance, over the next weeks.  We will be making a final determination during the first week of September. 

If a player was registered for the Fall 2020 season we are offering the following choices;

• If you would be interested in a Grade 3 through Grade 8 In Town Only Team Play and Skills program you can wait for our announcements during the first week of September.  No other action is necessary at this time.  We would encourage you to reach out to your Age Group Coordinator, found on the Shrewsbury Youth Soccer Web Page, with your intent.

• If you are not interested in , or not eligible for, a Grade 3-8 In Town program, you may submit a request for one of the following to our [email protected] ;

1. request a refund check of your Spring/Fall 2020 Registration less a $10 transactions fee
2. request 100% credit for a future registration
3. donate your registration to SYS, a registered non-profit
